Tourism and Environment
There are many benefits involved in travel and tourism. Tourists generate lots of economic activities.
Firstly, historic buildings help create vibrant, cultural downtowns that engender tourism, art, festivals, and other activities which in turn draw investment, revenue, and economic growth. A dynamic historic downtown can be the hub of community life: a place to shop, invest, create and live. Simultaneously, preservation can be a tool to boost economy and quality of life. Local residents benefit through the services that rise naturally in demand due to economic activities generated by tourism such as learning and recreational activities.
The second benefit of travelling and tourism is the economic and public benefits that act as powerful tools in sustaining local economy, creating jobs, and even generating capital. The aesthetic, cultural and historical benefits of tourism are well known, but now, communities are realizing that there are positive economic effects also. Can you just imagine how much wealth India earns from foreign tourists that visit Taj Mahal, Delhi, and Rajasthan? Some of the old historical buildings have been converted into heritage hotels? Thousands of people get employment and jobs due to the tourism that is boosted by the preservation of forts and other historical monuments.
The third benefit that we derive from tourism is the positive image that is formed in the eyes of the foreign and local tourists. Well maintained and preserved forts and buildings send a positive message to the visitors about our caring and organized national character. This not only helps in winning over the confidence of the foreigners, but also gives boost to self-confidence. We must promote tourism and maintain our historical buildings and give them new look!
However, with the rise in economic prosperity, more and more people are travelling for leisure. The tourism industry is flourishing exponentially. More and more people are travelling within the country and internationally! However, this boom in the tourism has adversely affected the environment! Owning to poor waste management unplanned and reckless construction along with the increasing pressure of catering to the needs of the tourist , beautiful beaches, coral reefs, forests, sanctuaries, waterways, lakes, lagoons, hills, mountains are being polluted. These spots of pure natural beauty are also habitats for various species of flora and fauna. These species are being adversely affected due to the construction, development, and other tourism related activities.
Answer:
Environment refers to the natural surroundings and conditions in which we live. Unfortunately, this Environment has come under serious threat. This threat is almost entirely due to human activities. These human activities have certainly caused serious damage to the Environment. Most noteworthy, this damage risks the survival of living things on Earth. Therefore, there is an urgent need to save the Environment.
First of all, planting trees should be given massive attention. Above all, a tree is the source of oxygen. Unfortunately, due to construction, many trees have been cut down. This certainly reduces the amount of oxygen in the environment. Growing more trees means more oxygen. Hence, growing more trees would mean better life quality.
Similarly, people must give attention to forest conservation. Forests are vital for the Environment. However, deforestation certainly reduces the area of forests around the World. The government must launch programs to conserve the forests. The government must make harming forests a criminal offense.
Soil conservation is yet another important way to save the Environment. For this, there must be control of landslides, floods, and soil erosion. Furthermore, there should also be afforestation and tree plantation to conserve the soil. Also, terrace farming and using natural fertilizers are some more ways.
Waste management is a powerful way of protecting the environment. There must be proper disposal of wastes. Most noteworthy, this would help to keep the surroundings healthy. The government must ensure to clean the streets and other polluted land areas. Furthermore, there should be toilets in every house. Also, the government must provide enough public toilets.
Pollution is probably the biggest danger to the Environment. Smoke, dust, and harmful gases cause air pollution. These causes of air pollution come from industries and vehicles mostly. Furthermore, Chemicals and pesticides cause land and water pollution. In conclusion, Environment is a precious gift on this planet. Our Environment is facing a big danger. Saving Environment is the need of the hour. Probably, it is the biggest concern of Humanity right now. Any delay in this regard could be disastrous.
