Patna was earlier known as Patliputra. The Ganga is the longest and the largest river in Bihar. There are 38 districts in Bihar.
Bihar is also the third largest populous state in India. In this state, Hindi is the official language. Bodhi tree is the state emblem of Bihar. This state is known for its cultural beauty and vast history. Its construction started a small fortress but later it became the kingdom of Magdha which spread till Afghanistan.
In a way, Bihar is a reflection of Indian diversity as it is home to most of the Indian tongues. Bihar was also the origin of Buddhism and the district of Gaya is in Bihar where Gautam Buddha used to meditate. There are many other tourist attractions in Bihar like Babar caves of Sultanpur, Sher Shah Suri Tomb, Bodhi Tree etc.
