Hi!
HANDWRITING IS AN DYING ART...
It’s often said that the pen is mightier than the sword, but that very notion could be threatened, after a new survey revealed that less of the UK’s population write every day.
The study by Signature from Thomas Cook, to mark National Handwriting Day, also revealed that almost a tenth of the population admitted to having illegible writing.
The sentimental value of writing was also analysed, and found that women are twice as likely as men to keep hold of their children’s schoolwork, diaries and creative writing.
Men, however, were more likely to hang on to their handwritten wedding vows.
The study also revealed that Cupid’s arrow had failed to inspire a great deal of Brits to write, with just under half of the participants admitting that they had never penned a love letter.
Adam Brand, a graphologist, said: ‘Handwriting is an endangered art so we should reclaim it. It is sad that less than half of us write every day and don’t send postcards when we go on holiday.
‘However, we do still cherish handwritten notes, postcards and pieces of paper touched by our loved ones – you can’t do that with a text message.
Handwriting is like a personality passport which can reveal a person’s characteristics and even aspects of their health.’
