true! Festivals are the vibrant colours of life. All of us so longingly wait
for their arrival. When the burden of the monotonous studies and routine
becomes annoying, festivals come as welcome rejuvenation breaks.
Festivals bring happiness, cheer, hope, optimism, celebrations,
lights, joy, cooperation and many more pleasant things in our life. During
Diwali, Christmas, Holi, Eid, Gurupurb, Passover, or any other festival the
world appears to be a heaven. It appears as if the entire world is attending a
wedding celebration. Children, adults, teenagers, elders, and middle-aged
people all of them love festivals.
My city gets decorated like a bride on her wedding day. All
buildings, shops and houses are decorated with lights, paper decorative materials,
etc. Shops, markets, roads are all abuzz with cheerful activities. Everyone is
in high spirits. There is plethora of delicious delicacies and eatables.
At night the decorative nights look like stars come down on
earth. People let off crackers. The entire sky is brightened with the colorful
radiance.

All the places are decked up during the festival season. Some of the main Indian festivals include Diwali, Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Pongal and Bhai Duj.
People in our country love celebrating the festivals with their near and dear ones. Each Indian festival has its own unique way of celebration and people follow the tradition while celebrating the same. However, some things remain common for instance people decorate their houses with flowers and lights during the festivals and wear new clothes. They visit each other and exchange gifts. Special sweets are prepared at home to treat the guests.
People of India also hold great regard for the National festivals of the country. Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day and Republic Day are the three national festivals of our country. These festivals are a symbol of unity and progress. They remind us of our patriotic leaders who served the country selflessly. National festivals are celebrated with equal zeal.
