Forests are an important source of livelihood. Some ways in which forest resources help people to earn a living are:

1. Wood or timber - There are many occupations in which wood is used as a raw material, for example, carpentry, manufacture of furniture, handicrafts, wooden frames and other construction items.

2. Medicine - Many herbs and medicinal plants can be found in the forests. Manufacturers of homeopathic, allopathic and ayurvedic medicines earn their living by using these herbs and plants.

3. Fodder - The leaves are used as fodder by the people who earn through animal husbandry.

4. Fuel - Forests are a source of firewood. People can sell firewood and earn money.

5. Food - They are a source of food. Fruits can be got from the forests and sold to earn a livelihood.

6. Honey - Pure honey can be got from the forests. This can be sold in the market to earn money.

7. Bamboo and natural fibres can be used to earn.

8. Resin from the trees can be used for manufacturing rubber.
