When ethanol react with ethanoic acid in the presence of acid catalysts to give ester and water is called esterfication.
e.g- C2H5OH + CH3COOH = CH3COOC2OH + H2O
Use of ester:-
# it is sweet smelling substance.
# it is used to make perfume as a flavoring agent.
