The ethyl alcohol is better than methyl alcohol as methyl alcohol is wood alcohol, which is poisonous if it's ingested. Ethyl alcohol is grain alcohol. Although it also is dangerous in large amounts, it is the alcohol in alcoholic beverages

● Ethanol is better than methanol because -
- Ethanol is made from grains (grain alcohol) while methanol is made from wood (wood alcohol).
- Methanol is toxic & hence not suitable for consumption.
- Ethanol when taken in excess causes mild CNS depression while even small amt of methanol can cause blindness.
- Ethanol is less acidic than methanol.
- Therefore, ethyl alcohol is better than methyl alcohol.
