Answered May 13, 2017. React ethanol with weak oxidizing agents like PCC (pyridinium chlorochromate) it will form an aldehyde. now react this aldehyde with Grignard reagent CH3CH2MgBr (in ether) followed by reaction with acid will result in formation of 2-butanol.
