Eucalyptus trees have very deep roots and are very good taking up water. Where they are planted they often dry out the soil and drain it of minerals. In California many eucalyptus trees were planted and they've dried out the soil very badly. Near a sewage pond Eucalyptuses would be ideal though. They would dry up any leaks that might happen.
