Evelyn Elizabeth Ann Glennie (born 1965) is an acclaimed percussionist from Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Since the age of 11, she has been totally deaf. She is supposed to have taught herself, how to register sounds using other parts of her body. She mostly plays barefoot at her concerts to ‘feel’ the music better.
She studied at Ellon Academy and the Royal Academy of Music. She had the honour of performing for the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games of 2012
