The trading companies such as European and Portuguese and the Dutch are were trying to hit Indian coast and conquer for the good establishment over the trade, and that is the reason why European traders were seen regularly sinking each other’s ship.

Explanation:

They were at fight with each other at all the time for the trade for which they used to sank other’s ship and they used to block the route not allowing to surpass the ships, conclusively not allowing the ship of goods to pass by. Resultant to which the trade was done with arms and posts of trading were then fortified to be protected.
