 \tt \green{we \: have \: to \: write \: 10.4 \: as \: 10 + 0.4}

identity to use..

(a + b) {}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  + 2ab

so..

 \bf{(10 + 0.4) {}^{2}  =  {10}^{2}  + (0.4) {}^{2} + 2(10)(0.4)  }

   \bf{(10 + 0.4) {}^{2} = 100 + 0.16 + 8 }

\bf \green{(10 + 0.4) {}^{2} = 108.16}
