RK Narayan was q prolific figure during post-independence time. He emerged as one of the three pillars of great Indian writers. His waiting for the Mahatma is a masterpiece. In addition, he wrote short stories like Swami and his friends. He also invented a fictional southern city "Malgudi" like the Casterbridge of Thomas Hardy. He earned name & fame in his time. He breathed his last in 2001.
