Thousands of years have passed but the Himalaya Mountains have held a profound significance for the people of India as our literature, mythologies, and religions, tourism, greatness is replicated by the presence of the great mountains.Since earlier period the immense frozen heights have attracted the eye of the pilgrim mountaineers of India, and from there the name of the great mountains was coined coming from the Indo-Aryan name Himalaya—from hima (“snow”) and alaya (“abode”)—for that great mountain system. In modern times the Himalayas have offered the best attraction and stands as the greatest challenge to mountaineers throughout the world.
