Joseph Stalin was the head of the Soviet Union from mid-1920s to his death in 1953. He was a prominent leader during the Bolshevik revolution in 1917 and slowly rose to prominence. After the death of Lenin in 1924, Stalin who was the General Secretary became the Premier of the Soviet Union. He had strong belief in Socialism and exercised rule with a stern hand.
