The title of this chapter- “Iswaran the storyteller” tells us that this story is about Iswaran. He is called the storyteller because as storytelling is an art, he is good at it. Iswaran uses special effects, does voice modulation, uses his body language to make the story realistic so that the listener, i.e. Mahendra gets attracted and captivated in his story. The writer wants to highlight this quality of Iswaran - that he was so good at telling stories that they appeared to be real. His stories were a source of entertainment for Mahendra.

Answer:

An educated person believes in logic. The existence of ghost is completely absurd and, literate people do not believe in their existence. But, at times, situations are such that it coerces the person to believe that ghosts do exist.

It was same in Mahendra's case. He was a sophisticated man. But, the way Iswaran told him that there exists a ghost in their factory yard and is visible only during full moon night, influenced Mahendra's mind such that he started believing in ghosts. He was completely sunken in the words said by Iswaran and, he even saw a ghost during full moon night. So, this illustrates that an educated person sometimes realizes the existence of a ghost.
