Yes your statement is absolutely correct
if we close our eyes in dark we can feel the light it is so because the external stimulus when occurs the motor nerves and reflex arc reacts to it
and also the rod cell in retina works as it is light sensitive

when we sleep or tired we close our eye in dark then our eye not get light when our eye get light then they are so red
