When the prince was alive ,he was kept away from the misery of the people in his kingdom . but when he died he was placed at a high place and he could see the people of the country. The people of country kept on calling him by the name of Happy Prince but actually he was really upset as now he knew that only a handful of people were happy and rest all were sad due to lack financial resources.

The courtiers called the prince the happy prince because he was always happy, when he was alive. He did not know what tears were for, he lived in a palace were sorrow was not allowed to enter. However when he died and made into a statue he was not happy. He could see all the misery and ugliness of the city all around.
