Every cell arises from a single cell. All multicellular organisms arise from a single cell called the zygote.
The process taking place is cell division. This cell division which is for reproduction is known as meiosis.
The single cell zygote divides and divides to form the organsism. In meisos the mother cell divides to form 4 daughter cells and these cells divides to form an entire organism.
