our first number is 0 and its successor is 1 , and 1's is 2 and 2's is 3 and so on.

We can't say that for predecessor because 0 is the smallest whole number and In set of whole numbers , there's no number which comes before it. so , 0 is the only whole number which doesn't has a predecessor.
