Why we call the friction is a necessary but evil?

Friction is important as it helps us to stop while walking , to put brakes while driving a car or riding a bicycle. Friction is necessary for daily activities. But it is considered evil as for instance there is an oil spill on the and all the vehicles pass through it, it will become difficult to stop vehicles. Oil reduces friction and so the vehicles will start sliding which will cause dangerous road accidents. Therefore ,Friction is an necessary evil.
