in actual life democracies do not appear to be reducing inequalities like the poor constitue a large population of our voters and no party likes to lose thier votes yet democratically elected govts have not addressed the ques of poverty as one would  have expected them to.

If we examine all democracies and all tyrannies for the period of fifty years between 1950 and 2000, we find that dictatorships have somewhat a higher pace of economic growth.

Economic growth depends on numerous factors such as the size of the population, cooperation from other nations, global trade, and economic preferences chosen by the country, etc. However, the variation in the degrees of economic advancement between less developed nations with tyrannies and commonwealths is negligible. Therefore, it may not be said that democracies assure economic development. But we can assume self-government not to lag following dictatorships in this regard.

However, it is better to favor democracy over dictatorship as it provides more positive outcomes.

Saudi Arabia can be taken as an example to prove the above case. Saudi Arabia has the dictatorial form of government and the economic growth of the nation is good as compared to India; which follows the democratic form of government. But the people of Saudi Arabia has no political and fundamental rights, while, India has provided its citizens with fundamental rights and included the people in the decision-making power. Thus, it may be argued that democracy is a good form of government than a dictator-ship.
