Classification is done on the basis of common characteristics ....that the organisms with similar characters are grouped together in the same rank than distntly related organisms ....and these characteristics arises by adapting to environment.Moreover more adaptive traits can only pass to next generation by eliminating maladaptive traits.These points find their roots in Darwin's NATURAL SELECTION CONCEPT regarding evolution.....this is how evolution and classificaton are interlinked.....
