-x=0.999....
9x=9.000..
x=9/9
x=1

P/Q form of 0.999 is 9/9=1

10 x = 9.9999 .....                  ----- (2)

Subtracting 1 from 2 :

10 x - x = 9.999 - 0.999

9x = 9

x = 9/9

 

x = 1
