The short term and long-term reasons which forced the America to withdraw its forces from Vietnam war are :

1.  Failure of the US troops to win the people of Vietnam.

2.  The heavy bombing over Vietnam and death of US soldiers turned public opinion in US against the war.

3.  Guerrilla tactics of North Vietnamese was also a reason of withdrawal of US forces.

4.  Ho-Min-Chi trial, which continuously supplied food and war logistics made North Vietnamese more resilient and forced US to withdraw.

5.  US troops morale was very down as there was no public support either in Vietnam or in US.

6.  Unfamiliar weather and topography of Vietnam.

7.  Tet Offensive 1968--a series of attacks on South Vietnam cities and a US building therein, further reduced public opinion in US.
