Let q=10

2q =2*10=20

20 is positive even integer

2q+1=2*10+1=20+1=21

21 is positive odd integer.

Let us take another example where q=16

2q=2*16=32

32 is positive even integer

2q+1=2*16+1=32+1=33

33 is positive odd integer.

This shows that every positive even integer is of form 2q and every positive odd integer is of form 2q+1.
