Distance = 75km

time = 2 hours

In km/h = 75/2 = 37.5 Km/h

In m/s = 37.5 x 5/18 = 10.41666 = 10.42 m/s

Question

A car travels a distance of 75 km in 2hrs at a uniform speed.

Express its speed in km/h and m/s.

Solution

(i) in km/h

distance (d )= 75 km

time (t )= 2 hrs

speed  \:  (s) =  \frac{d}{t}  \\ </p><p></p><p></p><p> \frac{75  \: km}{2 hrs}  \\  </p><p></p><p> \sf= 37.5 km/h

(ii) in m/s

distance (d) = 75 x 1000 m

time (t) = 2 x 3600 s

speed \: (s) \:  = \frac{d}{t}  \\ </p><p></p><p> \frac{75 x \: 1000  \: m}{2 x \:  3600  \: s}  \\ </p><p>  </p><p> \sf \: = 10.4 m/s
