Intonation- is the rise and fall in the sound of your voice when you speak. It has two patterns: the rising and falling intonation.

 

Rising intonation is how your voice rises at the end of the sentence. It is common in Yes- no questions.


Examples:

Falling intonation describes how the voice falls on the final stress syllable of a phrase or group of words. It is very common in Wh- questions.
