Caste system,  A complex system of community relations with obscure origins. Though with time, many things have changed and so did the caste system. The actual meaning of this system is totally lost or one can say that people changed the meaning for their personal benefits.
Initially,  the  system was created to promote the harmonious workings of society but eventually, it has (mostly through corruption) reached the prejudice and discrimination-filled system it is today. The role it plays in the life of Indians in only some matters that is also due to the basic belief which were spoon feeded to us by our forefathers, like in marriage, politics, social relationships and human behavior. This affects Indians of  almost all caste, religions and language. This misunderstood hierarchical social  order has been embedded in the behavior of Indians for generations and  overcoming it will take generations. As a general matter of discussion, it really influences the life of middle class or upper middle class families in India. Caste system has its influence in the arrange marriage system. This relevance is due to the basic belief that person from same caste have same culture. As a matter of human behavior and social relationship people of same caste usually mingle up easily with each other as seen in our Indian societies. Indian politicians are the biggest beneficiary of this system who use this to stimulate caste sentiments in order to develop political base. God! it changes the government of our country. Poverty is another issue which is also influenced by this system. Earlier lower caste people were suppressed by the upper caste people and thus they were deprived of the status which as a human was their right. So, different policies were brought in to upgrade the status of lower castes. Unfortunately, however, only a relatively small proportion of the lower castes have benefited from these preferential policies. So ultimately this system has done more bad to our society than good. The only role our current model of caste system plays is to break our society and  spoil the thinking of mankind.
