The reactions which take place in presence of sun light are called photo chemical reactions. Generally silver halides especially Silver chloride and silver bromide undergoes decomposition in presence of sunlight to produce silver metal and halogen gas (Chlorine or bromine gas).

The reactions are as follows

2AgCl  (sunlight) → 2Ag + Cl2

2AgBr (sunlight)  → 2Ag + Br2

Decomposition reactions which absorb light energy is called photochemical decomposition reaction.
Silver salts like silver bromide and silver iodide are used in photography because these change their colour when exposed to light.
For example ,

2AgCl ------sunlight------> 2Ag + Cl2.
