Asexual reproduction may involve gametic formation but there is no gametic fusion. This
line of NCERT is absolutely correct. One good example for this is parthenogenesis. It
involves development of complete individual from gamete without fertilisation.
Example 1: Fungi and Algae (some)
Gamete (n) --(No Syngamy, Modified into spore)--->Parthenospore/Azygospore ----->New individual
Thick walled spores (Parthenospore, azygospore) are produced by parthenogenesis in
certain alga and fungi from gamete without gametic fusion. Under favourable conditions
spores germinate to form new individual. So here gamete formation is present but
gametic fusion is absent.
Example 2: Honey bees
