Basically every time you hold something it's thanks to static friction. Without it you couldn't open a door, eat a slice of cake or clean the floor.

Maybe you have never thought of it, but screws stay in their place thanks to friction between the helix and the material in which they are plugged.

Any other example was already brought by other people.

Examples of Static Friction. Static friction is what keeps your car from sliding down a hill when the parking brake is engaged. It's also what stops your furniture from moving at the slightest touch.

There are four types of friction: static, sliding, rolling, and fluid friction. Static, sliding, and rolling friction occur between solid surfaces. Static friction is strongest, followed by sliding friction, and then rolling friction, which is weakest. Fluid friction occurs in fluids, which are liquids or gases.Nov 1, 2012
