mean = sum of observations / number of observations

⇒ 11 = (x + x+2 + x+4 + x+6 + x+8)/5

⇒ 11 = (5x + 20)/5

⇒ 11 × 5 = 5x + 20

⇒ 55 = 5x + 20

⇒ 5x = 55 - 20

⇒ 5x = 35

⇒ x = 35/5 = 7

So x is 7.

now x+2 = 9
x+4 = 11

first three observations are: 7, 9 and 11

mean of first three observations = (7+9+11)/3 = 27/3 = 9

Hey!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Solution :-

Number of observation = 5

_______________________________

Mean = Sum of Observation ÷ Number of observation

11 = {x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) + (x + 6) + (x + 8) } ÷ 5

11 = (5x + 20) ÷ 5

11 × 5 = 5x + 20

5x = 55 - 20

5x = 35

x = 35 ÷ 5

x = 7

_______________________________

x = 7

Value of x + 2 = 7 + 2 = 9

Value of x + 4 = 7 + 4 = 11

______________________________________________________________

First 3 Observation are :-

7 , 9 and 11

Mean = (7 + 9 + 11) ÷ 3

= 27 ÷ 3

= 9
