Physical Adsorption. Physical adsorption, or physisorption, is a type of adsorption that occurs for most particles in contact with a solid or liquid surface. Condensation of water molecules sticking to a drinking glass is an example. ... In other words, the molecules desorb from the surface.

Answer:

(1) Physical adsorption : When the adsorbate such as gas molecules are accumulate on the surface of a solid due to weak van der Waals forces, the adsorption is called physical adsorption or physisorption

(2) Chemical adsorption : When the adsorbate like gas molecule are accumulated on the surface of a solid or on an adsorbent due to chemical bonds (covalent or ionic) then adsorption is called chemical adsorption or chemisorption.
