Example of things in motion?
Answers
A car is moving that is in motion
Motion is movement of a body in an interval of time.
If an object covers a particular distance in a unit time, then the object is said to be in motion.
For eg: - a car is moving on a straight road, in a particular time, then the car is said to be in motion.
There are mainly two types of motion. They are : -
(i) Uniform motion
(ii) Non - uniform motion
(i)
If a body covers equal distance in equal interval of time, then the body is said to be in uniform motion.
Remember : -
Uniform means equal.
For eg : - if a car is moving 5 m in every 5 seconds, then the car is said to be in uniform motion.
If a body covers unequal distance in equal interval of time, then the body is said to be in non-uniform motion.
For eg : - if a car is moving 6 m in first 5 seconds and 8 m in next 5 seconds, then the car is said to be in non - uniform motion.
The quantity which specifies both the speed and the direction of the body at a time is called as velocity.
Velocity is a vector quantity.
Vector is a quantity which depends on the direction of the motion.
Scalar is the quantity which doesn't depends upon the direction of motion.
But here, the doubt arises, "what's the difference between speed and velocity?"
(i) Speed is the distance which is covered in a time.
(ii) Speed is a scalar quantity.
(iii) Speed (v) =
(i) Velocity is the speed with direction.
(ii) Velocity is a vector quantity.
(iii) Velocity (v) =
Acceleration is the measure of the change in velocity of an object per unit time.
Acceleration =
Acceleration is taken as positive when it's in the direction of velocity and it's taken as negative if it's opposite of the direction of velocity.
There are three types of equations of motion. They are :
(i) position - time graph
Equation : s = ut + at²
(ii) velocity - time graph
Equation : v = u + at
(iii) Position - velocity graph
Equation : 2as = v² - u²
A body is said to be in uniform circular motion if the body is covering a distance in a circular direction at a constant speed.
Here, the acceleration is changing at every point. This's because the direction is changing. If the direction is changing, then the velocity will be also changed.
As the change of velocity is the acceleration, thus, the acceleration will be also changed.
