Answer:

Let the length of platform = x

speed of train passing the plateform = length of train +length of platform/ time=440+x/80 m/s now according to the Question 440+x/80 +3 = 440/22 440+x/80+3 =20 440+x/80=20-3=17 440+x=80×17=1360 x=1360-440=920 m

Answer:

920 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:- Length of train = 440 m, time taken to pass the platform = 80 sec.

When speed is increased by 3m/sec, train covers a pole in 22 sec.

To Find:- Length of the platform.

Solution:-

Let's consider the length of the platform be P.

We know that,

Distance travelled = Speed of train × time taken by train

Acc. to the question,

⇒ 440 = (S + 3) × 22

⇒ 440 = 22S + 66

⇒ 22S = 440 - 66

⇒ S = 374/22

⇒ S = 17 m/sec.

Speed of the train = 17m/sec.

Here, Distance travelled = Length of train + Length of platform

∴ 440 + P = Speed × 80

⇒ 440 + P = 17 × 80

⇒ 440 + P = 1360

⇒ P = 1360 - 440

⇒ P = 920 meters.

Therefore, length of platform = 920 meters.
