parts of machines which touch each other wear out due to continues friction.
when we wear same pair of shoes for a few days their soles wear out due to friction.
since friction also produces heat, the engines of cars and other machinery become hot after running for some time.

if you are driving a car on the road it there will be a friction opposing the car which will try to stop it. so the friction by opposing a car is forcing it to stop and wastes the energy applied on the car
