when you dehydrate a solution of copper sulphate which is blue in colour

it gets dehydrated and the blue colour disappears

when you hydrate it again the blue colour returns .

The blue colour is caused by the water molecules which gets in bond with the salt.

thes water molecules are called water of crystallisation.

the chemical formula of copper sulphate with in blue colour is

CuSO4.5H2O
