Plants are the only organisms that can prepare food for themselves by water, carbon dioxide and minerals in the presence of sunlight as plants have chlorophyll pigment. ... Plants can make their food themselves but animals including humans cannot because they do not possess chlorophyll pigment for photosynthesis.

Explanation:

Plants do "Photosynthesis" to carry out their food making. In this process, CO2, water, sunlight and chlorophyll (the chemical which causes the green color). Since living organism doesn't have chlorophyll in them so, they can't prepare the food with other elements.
