Pressure can be defined as the ratio of mass & volume .

In longitudinal waves , the vibrations taking place are parallel to the direction in which the wave is traveling. So longitudinal waves includessound waves , ultrasonic waves etc . The excess pressure in the logitudinal waves indicates as the maximum disturbance caused due to the variation in the normal pressure in a particular medium. As a result , it also can be the displacement of a complete medium and a change of state in the orginal behaviour of the wave.
