In a competitive examination, 5 marks are awarded for each correct answer, 2 marks are deducted
for each incorrect answer and no marks are given for a question which is not attempted. Answer
the following questions.
(a) Nishi appeared in the examination and attempted 12 questions correctly and 5 questions
incorrectly. However she did not attempt 3 questions. What will be her score?
(b) Rohan attempted 7 questions correctly and 9 questions incorrectly. He did not attempt
4 questions. What will be his score?​

Each incorrect answer deducted means subtract 2 marks

Each unattempted has no marks.

(a) Nishi appeared in the examination and attempted 12 questions correctly and 5 questions

incorrectly. However she did not attempt 3 questions. What will be her score?

Answer:

No of questions attempted is 17 .

correctly answered are 12 =12×5=60marks

incorrectly answered are 5=5×2=10m

Total marks=60-10=50marks

(b) Rohan attempted 7 questions correctly and 9 questions incorrectly. He did not attempt

4 questions. What will be his score?

Answer:

No of questions attempted is 16

unattempted is 4

Correctly answered are 7=7×5=35marks

incorrect answered are 9=9×2=18marks

Total marks are =35-18=17marks

Total marks got by Nishi is "50marks".

Total marks got by Rohan is"17marks".

Nishi got highest marks in competitive examination.
