1. The difference of two numbers is 15 and their ratio is 3:2. Find the numbers.

GIVEN :–

• The difference of two numbers is 15 .

• Their ratio is 3:2 .

TO FIND :–

• The numbers = ?

SOLUTION :–

• Let the numbers are 'x' and 'y' .

• According to the first condition –

=> x - y = 15

=> x = 15 + y ______________eq.(1)

• According to the second condition –

=> x/y = 3/2

=> 2x = 3y

=> y = (⅔) x ______________eq.(2)

• Put the value of 'y' in eq.(1) –

=> x = 15 + (⅔) x

=> x - (⅔) x = 15

=> x/3 = 15

=> x = 45

• Using eq.(2) –

=> y = (⅔)(45)

=> y = 30

▪︎ Hence, x = 45 & y = 30 .
