The resistance R is the ratio of potential difference V and current I. What is the %age error in R if V = (100 ± 5)

volt and I = (10 ± 0.3) A?​

ANSWER :-

Given :

Potential difference V = ( 100 ± 5 ) V

Current I = ( 10 ± 0.2 ) A

From Ohm's law we have :

V = I R

R = V / I

Now :

% error in R = ( Δ V / V + Δ I / I ) × 100

% error in R = ( 5 / 100 + 0.2 / 10 ) × 100

% error in R = ( 7 / 100 ) × 100

% error in R = 7 %

Therefore , percentage error in resistance is 7 %
