HELLO MATE

1. Earth can be divided into three main layers: the core, the mantle and the crust. Each of these layers can be further divided into two parts: the inner and outer core, the upper and lower mantle and the continental and oceanic crust. Both the inner and outer core are made up of mostly iron and a little bit of nickel

2. A rock is any naturally occurring solid mass or aggregate of minerals or mineraloid matter. It is categorized by the minerals included, its chemical composition and the way in which it is formed. Rocks are usually grouped into three main groups: igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks and sedimentary rocks. Rocks form the Earth's outer solid layer, the crust.

3. There are three kinds of rock: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous rocks form when molten rock (magma or lava) cools and solidifies. Sedimentary rocks originate when particles settle out of water or air, or by precipitation of minerals from water.

4. The two main categories of igneous rocks are extrusive and intrusive. Extrusive rocks are formed on the surface of the Earth from lava, which is magma that has emerged from underground. Intrusive rocks are formed from magma that cools and solidifies within the crust of the planet

5. The rock cycle is a process in which rocks are continuously transformed between the three rock types igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic

6. Rocks are used for many purposes but some of them that we can see in       our daily life are cited below :

 Making Cement (Limestone) (Sedimentary Origin)

 Writing (Chalk) (Sedimentary Origin)

 Building Material (Sandstone) (Sedimentary Origin)

 Bath Scrub (Pumice) (Igneous Origin)

 Kerb Stone (Granite) (Igneous Origin)

 Roofing Material (Slate) (Metamorphic Origin)

 Statue/Ornaments/Decoration (Marble) (Metamorphic Origin)

Valuable source of minerals (Gold, Diamond, Sapphire e.t.c)

Some rocks acts as tourist attraction sites.

7. Metamorphic rocks arise from the transformation of existing rock types, in a process called metamorphism, which means "change in form". The original rock is subjected to heat and pressure, causing profound physical or chemical change. The protolith may be a sedimentary, igneous, or existing metamorphic rock.
