Answer:

Non - green plants are plants which dont have chlorophyll in them , which means they aren't capable of doing photosynthesis . So , since plants do photosynthesis to obtain food , there has to be some other ways through which they can get food . So , some other modes of nutrition followed by non - green plants are :

1) saprotrophic mode of nutrition : Here plants obtain their much needed food from dead and decayed materials .

2) parasitic mode of nutrition : Here plants which aren't capable of photosynthesis climb into other trees or plant , live along with them and absorb all the nutrients from that plant . Such animals are called as parasites and the plant which a parasite derives food and nutrients from are called the host .

3) Insectivorous plants : Such plants take food by eating insects which stand on them . A good example of such a plant is the venus flytrap , it swallows the insects which stands on it for more than 20 seconds . Though insectivorous plants are capable of doing photosynthesis , they also feed on insects because the insects they eat contain amino acids , which will lack in the soil of insectivorous plants .

So , we can say that some non - green plants are partly heterotrophic .
