ADP-ADP Short for adenosine diphosphate. An organic compound that is composed of adenosine and two phosphate groups. With the addition of another phosphate group, it is converted to ATP for the storage of energy during cell metabolism.

Adenosine triphosphate and Adenosine diphosphate.

  • These two biological molecules are involved in the production of energy.
  • ATP has the ability to dissociate into ADP and phosphate.
  • The phosphate that is released provides sufficient energy for the cells to function.
  • When there is an excess of energy in the body, the body tries to convert ADP back to ATP and thus energy is generated.
  • Apart from ATP, there are other energy molecules like NADP, FADP, that also have the capacity to provide energy.
