"The full form of DNA" is deoxyribonucleic acid.

Functions of DNA:

The DNA carries the genetic information from one generation to another. It is a heterogeneous polymer made up of a number of nucleotides. Each nucleotide contains nitrogenous bases, sugar molecules and phosphate moieties.

The nitrogenous bases are the adenine, thymine, guanine and the cytosine. The phosphate molecules form the back bone of the DNA. Less than "2% of the DNA" codes for the proteins that are required for various metabolic functions "the rest of the DNA" are called as junk DNA.
