identity to be used is:-

(a + b + c )^2 = a^2 + b^2 + c^2 + 2( ab + bc + ca)

now,

(- 4x + 2y - 2 )^2 =

(-4x)^2 + (2y)^2 + (-2)^2 + 2[ ( -4x × 2y) + ( 2y × -2) + ( -2 × -4x) ]

16 x^2 + 4y^2 + 4 + 2 [ -8xy - 4y + 8x ]

16 x^2 + 4y^2 + 4 - 16xy - 8y + 16x

4 [ 4x^2 + y^2 + 1 - 4xy - 2y + 4x].

hope this helps you...!!
