keep the body in the vernier scale and note the main scale reading

the least count of vernier calliper is 0.01cm

note the line of the vernier scale coinciding with the main scale and it is treated as the point of coincidence.

vernier scale reading =point of coincidence×least count

total reading= main scale reading +vernier scale reading

take many observation and take its mean value and that value will be the diameter of the body.
