Ways to conserve soil are:

1. Mulching : the bare ground between the plants is covered with the layer of organic matter like straw. It helps to retain soil moisture.

2. Rock Dam : rocks are pilled up slow down the flow of water. It prevents soil loss.

3. Intercropping : different crops in alternative row and sown at different times to protect soil from rain wash.

4. Terrace Farming : broad flat slopes or terraces are made on the steep slopes so that flat surfaces are available to grow crops and it helps to reduce soil erosion.

5. Shelter Belts : row of trees are planted to check the movement of the wind.
